86UNICEF has welcomed the Sri Lankan Cabinet’s approval of the Global Charter for Child Care Reforms, describing it as a landmark step to strengthen child protection and accelerate ongoing reforms in alternative care.
The organisation noted that while significant progress has been made in reducing institutional care and reunifying children with families, continued efforts are needed to expand family-based care and strengthen support systems for vulnerable children.
