The Sri Lanka China Business Co-operation Council recently held its 26th AGM and elected Indika Salgado as its President for 2025/26, along with other office bearers and Executive Council members.
The newly elected committee brings a wealth of experience and expertise to guide the SLCBCC’s strategic direction, while enhancing member value and strengthening delivery. Looking ahead, newly elected President Indika Salgado expressed confidence that the committee would drive the Council towards new achievements, foster deeper partnerships and deliver greater value to members.
The AGM was attended by a well-represented cross-section of members both in person and virtually, reflecting the Council’s strong commitment to advancing its goals. The new team will assume its responsibilities immediately.
Salgado acknowledged that past achievements were made possible through the dedication of members, and he extended his gratitude to the outgoing ExCo members for their service to the Council. He further noted that while the Council has reached many milestones, including the introduction of the Trusted Trader Certification in partnership with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), its flagship event was not held due to the country’s circumstances. Reviving this event will be a top priority for the year.
The President announced that the SLCBCC has been awarded VIP status at China’s renowned Canton Fair. Under his leadership, the Council will continue to expand trade exchanges with Chinese expos and implement supportive initiatives such as training programs and workshops for members.
