Strengthening global trade partnerships for Sri Lanka Expo 2026

Sri Lanka is further strengthening its global trade partnerships in preparation for Sri Lanka Expo 2026, the country’s flagship international trade exhibition scheduled to be held from 18–21 June 2026 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo. The event is organized by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development and other Public & Private stakeholders, with the objective of positioning Sri Lanka as a competitive hub for trade, investment, and innovation.

As part of these efforts, a high-level delegation led by Hon. Sunil Handunnetti, Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, together with Mrs. Thilaka Jayasundara, Secretary to the Ministry, Mr. Mangala Wijesinghe, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the EDB held a series of discussions with foreign diplomatic missions in Sri Lanka to strengthen bilateral trade ties and promote international participation in Sri Lanka Expo 2026.

The delegation met with H.E. Andrew Patrick, British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, H.E. Dewi Gustina Tobing, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Sri Lanka, and H.E. Miyon Lee, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Sri Lanka, where discussions focused on enhancing trade and investment cooperation and encouraging buyer & investor participation from their respective countries at the upcoming Expo.

These engagements highlight Sri Lanka’s proactive approach to strengthening global trade relations and positioning Sri Lanka Expo 2026 as a key platform for international buyers to connect with Sri Lankan exporters across sectors such as apparel, tea, spices, rubber products, ICT services, food and beverages, and industrial manufacturing, while also encouraging investors to explore business opportunities and strategic collaborations with Sri Lankan business entities.
