Ceylon Chamber welcomes IMF review approval

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce has welcomed the approval of Sri Lanka’s 5th and 6th reviews under the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Extended Fund Facility programme.

The Chamber said the approval will allow Sri Lanka to access around $695mn in financing support.

It urged the government to maintain reform momentum, strengthen economic stability and continue engagement with the IMF programme.

The Chamber also called for faster reforms in investment, trade, tourism, logistics and digitalisation, while highlighting risks from ongoing global and regional economic pressures.
