Sri Lanka secures $50mn World Bank loan for digital transformation project

The Sri Lanka Digital Transformation Project, under the Digital Economy Strategies (2025–2030), aims to modernize public service delivery efficiently and transparently through digital methods.

Cabinet approval was granted to seek support from international development partners. Loan negotiations with the World Bank Group have now concluded.

The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development will secure the $50 million loan in Special Drawing Rights (SDR), while GovTech Sri Lanka will implement the project.

The Ministry of Digital Economy will oversee policy supervision and inter-ministerial coordination.
