Former Indian U19 World Cup star-led Sports Commune buys Jaffna Kings

Jaffna Kings announced that the franchise will come under the ownership of Sports Commune, led by Indian sports entrepreneurs Manjot Kalra and Mayank Goel, ahead of Lanka Premier League Season 6.

A former India U19 World Cup cricketer, Kalra brings first-hand cricketing experience together with sports entrepreneurship, digital media and youth engagement. As Co-Founder of Sports Commune, he has focused on creating structured opportunities for young athletes and building stronger connections between players, fans and sporting communities.

Goel, also Co-Founder of Sports Commune, is an entrepreneur with interests across digital security, insurance and sports development. He is the Founder of Softsecure Infotech Pvt. Ltd. and Shree Dhyan Insurance Brokers Private Limited, and has supported youth cricket through tournaments for teenage players and corporate cricket initiatives.

The Jaffna Kings have also pre-signed Sri Lanka batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa and all-rounder Dunith Wellalage, giving the franchise a strong local foundation as it prepares for the upcoming season.

Welcoming the new ownership, Lanka Premier League Director Samantha Dodanwela said, “Sri Lanka Cricket welcomes Sports Commune as the new ownership group of Jaffna Kings for Lanka Premier League Season 6. Their commitment to cricket, youth engagement and sports development adds further strength to the league.”

The new owners stated that their focus will be on building a disciplined, modern and connected franchise that reflects the spirit of Jaffna Kings while investing in long-term sporting value.
