Ave Maria Convent, Negombo celebrates 150

Principal of Ave Maria Convent, Negombo Revd Sr Priyanganie Hathurusinghe will unveil the official logo for the milestone 150th anniversary celebrations at the school main hall on 13 May at 6 p.m.

Ave Maria Convent, Negombo founded in the year 1875, with a vision to nurture minds and build up the character of young ladies has stood up as a beacon of resilience for a century and a half. The jubilee will be celebrated together with the past principals and teachers, alumni, Welfare Board etc. Jubilee mass will be celebrated by His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith on 8 October 2026.

The organising committee said that there will be a sports carnival on 16 May, Life of Carlo Acutis (English-born Italian teenager beatified by the Catholic Church for his deep devotion to the Eucharist and pioneering use of digital media to document miracles) on 18 September and AMC Walk on 26 September. The celebrations will conclude with the jubilee mass on 8 October.
