Sri Lanka’s trailblazing Formula 3 driver, Yevan David, captivated an audience at the “Unveiling the Journey of Sri Lanka’s Rising F3 Star” press conference held at the 80 Club in Colombo 07 on Wednesday. The event celebrated Yevan’s achievements and shed light on the talented team behind his success.
Internationally renowned race commentator Jake Sanson kicked off the event, introducing Yevan as “The Man Destined to bring Sri Lanka to Formula 1.” The conference then took a deep dive into Yevan’s inspiring story of determination, ambition, and the life-changing power of motorsport.
Yevan, who recently made history as Sri Lanka’s first multi-race winner in Formula 3, shared his excitement and gratitude. “I am absolutely thrilled to be here in Sri Lanka and deeply grateful for the incredible support from everyone. It’s an honor to represent the nation as I strive to take our flag to the pinnacle of motorsport,” he said.
Horia Totu, Yevan’s manager, provided a behind-the-scenes look at the highs and challenges of his debut year in racing. “Given the enormous progression and the talent that we have seen this year, the sky is the limit for Yevan,” he said, praising the young driver’s growth.
Yevan’s fitness coach, Alex Stott, highlighted the mental and physical demands of motorsport. “The dedication, talent, and work ethic Yevan displays are truly once in a generation. What I’ve seen with Yevan sets him apart, even from drivers who have gone all the way to F1,” Stott noted.
The session concluded with Andy Stobart, Yevan’s PR and Communication Manager, discussing the vision to elevate Sri Lanka’s presence in global motorsport. “With Yevan’s rapidly growing online presence, results, and global media interest, he is uniquely positioned to be a shining ambassador for Sri Lanka,” Stobart said.
The event not only celebrated Yevan’s achievements but also highlighted his potential to make history. There was a compelling call for corporate sponsorship to support his journey to Formula 1, ensuring Sri Lanka’s place on the global motorsport map.
