National Policy for Mineral Resources soon

The Industries and Entrepreneurship Development Ministry targets have been achieved in 2025 and the ministry have been successful in utilizing a large amount of ministerial budget allocations and most of the institutions under his ministry have done a large amount of work last year, Sunil Handunnetti said ssuming duties at the ministry for the new year on January 1.

He said they have newly got the Geological Survey & Mines Bureau under their belt and this year their main task will be formulating a national policy for the country’s mineral resources with the intention of generating more foreign currency to the country.

Another main milestone this year he said was conducting the Expo 2026 in June and it is not only the responsibility of the EDB but of their entire ministry. Handunnetti said Expo 2026 will be the largest industrial exhibition held after 14 years in Sri Lanka. He said they expect to invite more than 1,500 international buyers for Expo 2026 which will also draw the attention of large number of investors
