Asian International School (AIS) recently hosted the 29th Inter-International School Swimming Championship (IISSC) at the Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming Complex in Colombo. The two-day event brought together 874 swimmers from 21 leading international schools across Sri Lanka, showcasing high-level competition in an SLASU-recognized meet.
Sponsored by FONDRE, the flagship brand of Pyramid Wilmar (Pvt) Ltd, the championship has grown into one of Sri Lanka’s premier international school swimming events. Under the guidance of AIS Principal Harshana Perera and Head of Sports Ms. Nihara Bagoos, the event was executed to the highest standards.
Over the two days, swimmers pushed their limits, breaking 11 meet records. AIS’s Christina Perumal stood out by shattering a 14-year-old record in the Girls Under-20 100m Breaststroke, solidifying her reputation as one of the country’s top swimmers.
AIS’s team also impressed, returning with 20 medals, demonstrating the depth of talent within the school. With three Olympic swimmers among its alumni, AIS continues to build its legacy in Sri Lankan swimming. “We’re proud of our swimmers and the team behind this event,” said Ms. Bagoos.
