AIA Insurance Lanka proudly strengthened its long-standing commitment to community wellbeing by partnering with Run For Their Lives (RFTL) 2026 for the fifth year, serving as the Gold Sponsor of the event. Organised by the Rotaract Club of Uptown Colombo, the annual charity run was held in aid of the Apeksha Cancer Hospital and took place at the Racecourse Grounds, Colombo.
Central to AIA’s presence at the event was the ‘Rethink Healthy Zone’, an immersive experience designed to promote the four pillars of wellness – physical, mental, financial and environmental. The zone offered participants multiple touchpoints to engage with healthier lifestyle choices in a fun, meaningful, and impactful way.
In line with this year’s strong sustainability focus, AIA introduced a plant-themed backdrop to encourage eco-friendly choices. A social media competition invited participants to capture and share moments at the backdrop, with the most engaging post winning a brand-new Apple Watch. Parallelly, AIA distributed plant seed envelopes accompanied by an invitation for participants to plant the seeds and share their growth progress within three months, with selected participants standing a chance to win luxury hotel stay vouchers.
The ‘Rethink Healthy Zone’ also featured interactive elements designed to inspire positive behavioural change. Games such as ‘AIA Plinko Board’ encouraged visitors to pledge healthy habits, while ’AIA rowing machine challenge’ promoted physical activity and active engagement. Adding to the excitement, one lucky participant emerged as the winner of the ‘Scan & Win challenge’, taking home another brand-new Apple Watch. Notably, extending the event’s social impact beyond the day itself, all game winners were given the option to donate the value of their prizes towards Kimbulapitiya Safe Water Project, supported by AIA Insurance, that provides clean, safe drinking water to the Kimbulpatiyawa village in Horowpothana.
The event recorded an engagement of over 5,000 participants, with the AIA family once again marking the highest corporate participation, continuing a proud tradition from previous years. Demonstrating its support for the participants, AIA was pleased to sponsor gifts for all 20 winners of the run. All the runners were treated to a dedicated foot massage corner, offering a calming post-run recovery experience complemented by soothing music.
