Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Sri Lanka Khaled Nasser AIAmeri said that his country is particularly interested in investment opportunities in the energy sector.
He made these observations after meeting with Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody recently at the Ministry. The Ambassador said the United Arab Emirates is rather keen on investing in the energy sector in Sri Lanka especially in the field of green energy.
“We recently met with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and focused attention on energy sector developments and we are particularly interested in investment opportunities in the energy sector. Besides, we view the political transformation in Sri Lanka very positively.”
He also expressed confidence that the President’s upcoming visit to the United Arab Emirates would be an appropriate opportunity to raise awareness about the above investment opportunities and to reach various agreements.
Speaking at the meeting Energy Minister Jayakody said that the United Arab Emirates, which is the sixth largest export market of Sri Lanka and where a large number of Sri Lankans are employed, is a wealthy and prosperous country. He said that as a country with strong friendship he highly values all kinds of relations with the United Arab Emirates including energy sector moves to be entered into in due course.
The Minister also expressed confidence that investment opportunities, especially in the energy sector, will further strengthen that friendship between the two countries.
He further emphasized the importance of working together for energy stability in the region and stated that he expects to reach many more agreements during his upcoming visit with the President in the UAE.
