Sri Lanka promotes tourism, trade and investment at Myanmar expo

Sri Lanka showcased its tourism attractions, Buddhist heritage, Ceylon Tea and investment opportunities at the Myanmar International Business Trade Show & Travel Expo 2026, held in Yangon from September 4 to 7.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Yangon participated in the event, held at the Pan Pacific Hotel, alongside the embassies of Bangladesh and Nepal, Myanmar business organisations and other stakeholders.

Sri Lankan Ambassador to Myanmar Prabashini Ponnamperuma delivered the opening speech and participated in a panel discussion, highlighting the longstanding relations between the two countries and the need to strengthen cooperation in tourism, trade, investment and people-to-people connectivity.

She also highlighted Sri Lanka’s diverse tourism attractions and opportunities for further bilateral engagement.

The Embassy maintained a Sri Lanka promotional booth throughout the exhibition, showcasing the country's tourism destinations, Buddhist heritage, cultural traditions and trade and investment opportunities. Ceylon Tea was also promoted, allowing visitors to learn about the quality and heritage of Sri Lanka’s tea industry.

The booth attracted interest from visitors, business representatives and tourism professionals. Promotional materials on Sri Lanka’s tourism, culture, Buddhist heritage, trade and investment opportunities were distributed to raise awareness among the Myanmar public and business community.

The event also provided an opportunity for the Embassy to engage with Myanmar's business and tourism stakeholders, explore potential areas of cooperation and strengthen ties with private-sector organisations.

The Embassy thanked the STP Event Management Team for facilitating Sri Lanka’s participation in the exhibition.
