1,500 patients await radiation therapy as Apeksha Hospital CT simulator remains inoperative

Around 1,500 patients are on the waiting list for radiation therapy at Maharagama Apeksha Hospital due to the non-functioning CT Simulator machine, the Society of Government Radiological Technologists of Sri Lanka stated.

Association President Chanaka Dharmawickrama noted that the new machine, installed to replace the hospital’s old unit and handed over last month, remains unusable due to a software compatibility issue.

He further noted that obtaining radiation therapy through the private sector could cost between Rs. 500,000 and Rs. 2 million per patient.
