University of Ruhuna partners Fadna

The University of Ruhuna and Fadna Company have signed a significant licensing agreement, marking the beginning of an exciting collaboration between academia and industry. The signing ceremony, held on September 5, 2024, at the University’s New Senate Building, highlights the university’s commitment to fostering innovation and advancing research.

This partnership provides a tremendous opportunity for the university, allowing its research and development efforts to directly contribute to society. Fadna will bring to market products developed through university-led research, starting with a herbal remedy for diabetes management created by the Faculty of Medicine after years of study. This is the first in a series of products that will showcase the power of academic research in solving real-world problems.
