Sun Siyam Pasikudah brings New Year's splendor to Pasikudah beach

Bringing the New Year to the Pasikudah beach, the Sun Siyam Pasikudah Hotel had organized a special New Year program for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year this year, with the participation of local and foreign tourists. This New Year program organized by Sun Siyam Pasikudah, a part of the Prive hotel collection of the Siyam hotel chain, provided tourists with the opportunity to experience the joy, fun and traditional customs of the New Year.

The New Year auspicious rituals were carried out in the same way, starting from the dawn of the New Year, lighting the stove, pouring milk, etc. at the hotel. Then, a table full of traditional sweets including milk rice, kokis, kevum, asmi and others was prepared for the auspicious food. This was also the first time that some foreign tourists had experienced such a food ritual.

After three in the evening, the New Year games were reserved. There were many fun games such as breaking the moon, tug of war, eating buns, blowing up balloons, wrestling, sack races, carrying a lime on a spoon, giving milk to the blind, putting an eye on the elephant, and finding the lost coin in the flour bowl. Local and foreign tourists, young and old, participated in these games with great enthusiasm.

″The special freshness felt during the New Year is something that is written in the entire environment. All these activities such as auspicious rituals, lighting the fire, the New Year food table, and New Year games are very meaningful. Everyone comes together during the New Year to enjoy a joy and fun that is not seen at any other time of the year. Therefore, we wanted to bring this New Year joy closer to our tourists. "We made them participate in the New Year activities rather than just spectators, and I am sure that we were able to make them feel at home through this program," said Arshad Refai, General Manager of Sun Siyam Pasikudah.

Pasikudah Beach has long been known as a hassle-free beach. However, with the recent increase in tourist arrivals (in the first quarter of 2025, tourist arrivals exceeded 600,000, generating a total of $1.025 billion in foreign remittances to Sri Lanka), the appeal of the eastern coast has also increased. Sun Siyam Pasikudah Hotel has also been able to become a hub for attracting foreign tourists to Pasikudah Beach.

The hotel, which consists of 34 pavilion-style hotel rooms, has its own unique architectural and interior design excellence. The hotel, which also features several restaurants such as The Kitchen, The Cellar, The Slice and Grill, The Tea House, and The Bar, offers a wide range of experiences to tourists, including various thrilling water sports experiences, spa facilities, local arts and crafts experiences, and dining facilities under the starry night sky.
