Sri Lanka boys’ U-17 Football team left to Bhutan yesterday to participate in the South Asian Under 17 Boys Football Championship which will be worked off from September 20 to 30. The Lankan team is captained by Afeel Akram.
This football championship participated by eight countries will be held at Thimphu Changlimithang stadium, Bhutan. Sri Lanka will compete in the ‘B’ group, against Bhutan, Nepal and Pakistan and the preliminary round will be played on September 21, 23 and 25.
Aruna Sampath is the head coach of the Sri Lanka under-17 football team, while S. Srikanth is the Assistant coach. M.A.M. Azwar (Goal keeping coach) and Sudath Karunathilaka (manager) are also accompanied the team. (YK)
