The Faculty of Humanities and Sciences of SLIIT successfully hosted the sixth edition of the SICASH 2025 Multiconference on October 10th and 11th, 2025, at the SLIIT Malabe Campus. Marking a significant milestone, this year’s event evolved into a multiconference format, featuring seven conferences representing each department within the faculty. Held under the overarching theme “Transforming Possibilities Through Research Excellence,” SICASH 2025 brought together academics, researchers, and industry professionals from Sri Lanka and overseas, fostering collaboration and innovation across diverse fields including biotechnology, education, psychology, nursing, law, linguistics, mathematics, and statistics.
Marking an inspiring start to the SICASH 2025 Multiconference, the inaugural session featured keynote addresses by two distinguished international scholars Dr. Patrick McNamara, Executive Director of the United States–Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission, and Dr. Usree Bhattacharya, Associate Professor at the University of Georgia, USA.. The conference also featured speakers and participants from China, Australia, India, and Dubai, reflecting its growing global reach. A total of 167 research papers were submitted, with 141 accepted following a rigorous double-blind review process. More than 300 participants attended the event, representing academia, research institutions, and industry.
Speaking about the conference, Dr. Malitha Wijesundara, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Sciences, highlighted the broader social contribution of SICASH, stating: “SICASH is not just an academic event, it helps bring new ideas and research closer to real-life needs. I am immensely proud of our faculty for hosting an event of this scale and depth. Their commitment to academic rigor and purposeful research truly reflects the values we uphold at SLIIT. I wish all our authors and participants continued success as they take forward knowledge that can positively influence communities and industries alike.”
Each of the seven parallel conferences, covering disciplines such as biotechnology, education, law, nursing, actuarial sciences, language studies, and psychology, served as a platform for the exchange of ideas and advancement of research excellence. The International Conference on Sustainable Biotechnology (ICoSBi 2025), endorsed by the International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology and the National Science Foundation of Sri Lanka, presented Dr. Ramesh Sonti as a keynote speaker. The International Conference on Actuarial Sciences (ICActS 2025), jointly organized with the Actuarial Association of Sri Lanka, featured Kartina Tahir Thomson, President of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and Senior Director at WTW, and Mr. Alex Hoi Ming Lee, President of the Singapore Actuarial Society and Independent Consultant. International Conference on Educational Trends and Technology (iCONETT 2025), in partnership with the University of Sabaragamuwa, hosted Prof. Michael Mu, Enterprise Fellow and Portfolio Lead Research at the University of South Australia, and Prof. T.M. Sakunthala Yatigammana, Professor in Education at the University of Peradeniya. International Conference on Law and Justice (ICLJ 2025) featured Dr. Alison Lui, Faculty of Business and Law at Liverpool John Moores University, and Prof. J. M. Swaminathan, Senior Attorney-at-Law. International Conference in Language, Culture, Technology, and Autonomy (ICLACTA 2025) welcomed Dr. Usree Bhattacharya, Associate Professor in Language and Literacy Education at the University of Georgia, while International Conference on Nursing and Allied Health for Sustainability (ICoNAHS 2025) hosted Prof. Nikki Philips, Dean of Nursing and Midwifery at Deakin University, Australia as the keynote speaker. Psychology International Conference (PSYCIC 2025), endorsed by the Professional Counsellors Association, featured Dr. Renee Ireland, Senior Lecturer in Psychology/Clinical at the University of Southern Queensland. Together, these conferences underscored a SLIIT commitment to advancing research, professional practice, and academic excellence across multiple disciplines.
