Seylan Bank recently recognised employees who achieved notable success at national-level mercantile sports competitions, reaffirming the Bank’s commitment to holistic employee development, teamwork, and well-being beyond the workplace.
The recognition, led by the Bank’s Director/ Chief Executive Officer, Ramesh Jayasekara, celebrated employees and teams who delivered commendable performances at the 2025 Mercantile Tournaments, securing championship honours and individual accolades in swimming and basketball.
The Seylan Swimming Team delivered an exceptional performance at the 16th President’s Challenge Trophy – Mercantile Swimming Championship 2025, winning five gold medals and one silver medal. Dilini Kumarasinghe claimed three gold medals while Thamadi Mewanya secured two gold medals and one silver, highlighting the team’s talent, dedication, and competitive spirit.
Additionally, the Seylan Basketball Team clinched the Championship title at the 33rd Mercantile Services Basketball Association League 2025 (Division A) as consecutive champions, with Epciba Washington Clay named Most Valuable Player, building on a legacy of top-tier performances and standout players from previous seasons.
