School Rugby is Sri Lanka's most popular schoolboy sport which is second only to the National Cricket team in terms of spectator following. For well over a decade, George Steuart Health has proudly stood behind rugby at Science College Mount Lavinia, supporting the growth of young talent and the spirit of the game.
Many outstanding national players have emerged through this institution with a proud rugby tradition.
Recently, the George Steuart Health Managing Director Eran Ranasinghe was invited by the Principal and the Science College Rugby Supporters’ Group as the chief guest for the Science College vs. S. Thomas’ College encounter. It was a special moment for Ranasinghe himself being an alumnus of S. Thomas' College. It was a fantastic Mt. Lavinia derby game played in true Thomian and Science spirit where the passion, discipline, and sportsmanship was displayed by both teams which ended in a Thomian victory 41-13. The school by the sea also clinched victory in the Under-16 encounter.
