Prime Group continues enduring legacy supporting youth development as Official Real Estate Partner for the Battles of the Blues and Maroons

As Prime Group marks 30 years of real estate excellence in Sri Lanka, the commitment to community and youth development has taken shape outside the built environment. This year, in a wider mission to invest in the institutions, traditions, and communities that form Sri Lanka’s future, Prime Group is the Official Real Estate Partner of two of the country’s most historic school cricket encounters — the 147th Battle of the Blues between Royal College and S. Thomas’ College, and the 96th Battle of the Maroons between Ananda College and Nalanda College.

For nearly a century and a half, the Battle of the Blues, has continued an enduring heritage. A collision of rivalry, pride, and heritage binding generations of Royal College and S. Thomas' College, to something far greater than sport.

Prime Group proudly joins the legacy as the Official Real Estate Partner. The partnership is a natural alignment between two entities grounded with the same visionary intent, resilience, and a promise to build with lasting impact.

Just as the Battle of the Blues, Sri Lanka’s most prestigious and historic school cricket encounter, has shaped the character of the youth, Prime Group builds neighbourhoods designed to do the same, spaces in which communities take root, timeless memories are passed down, and belonging is foundational.

The Battle of the Maroons also holds a vivid past with the inaugural match between Ananda College and Nalanda College taking place in 1924. Over the years, the fixture has served as a foundation for some of Sri Lanka’s finest cricketing talent, producing players who have gone on to represent clubs and also held the distinction as members of the nation team.

As Official Real Estate Partner also of the 96th Battle of the Maroons, Prime Group is honoured to become part of the legacy, recognising the role the institutions have played in shaping leaders, professionals, and individuals for decades.

Both partnerships are rooted in Prime Group’s dedication to youth empowerment and community development. The Battle of the Blues and Battle of the Maroons unite distinguished alumni, respected professionals, and influential figures produced by four of Sri Lanka’s most iconic schools. Supporting these historic encounters, Prime Group reinforces the commitment to youth empowerment, strengthening the foundation for a brighter, stronger future and building lasting relationships within Sri Lanka’s most influential communities.

Ruminda Randeniya, CEO/Executive Director, Prime Lands (Pvt) said, “Sri Lanka is built on strong foundations, in sport, community, and the values we carry forward. For 147 years, the Battle of the Blues has shown that the strongest foundations endure, and the Battle of the Maroons, now in its 96th encounter, carries the same spirit. At Prime Group, we build with the same resolve and our partnership affirms it. The values of teamwork, resilience, and character of the encounter are the same values behind every real estate development we deliver.

Prime Group extends warmest wishes to Royal College, S. Thomas’ College, Ananda College, and Nalanda College as they take to the field. Though only one side could claim each match, true victory, as always belongs to the spirit of the game and the future custodians it continues to inspire.
