Permia Sensing Limited (“Permia”), an advanced agricultural intelligence and plantation analytics company, today announced that it has secured a strategic contract with the National Livestock Development Board (NLDB) of Sri Lanka to deploy its digital plantation monitoring and decision-support platform across 4,750 hectares of NLDB coconut estates.
The agreement aligns with Sri Lanka’s national push toward digitally enabled, data-driven agriculture, with recent government initiatives focused on building digital public infrastructure, improving data-driven decision-making, strengthening climate resilience, and modernising agricultural productivity across the sector.
Under the contract, NLDB will implement Permia’s integrated Virtual Map and Tree Health Monitoring Platform, providing real-time visibility of plantation performance at tree-level resolution. The system enables estate teams to record and visualise key farm activities — including fertilisation, harvesting, mulching, and pest and disease management — while monitoring tree health trends, weather patterns, and productivity indicators through an interactive digital dashboard.
The platform supports structured digital record-keeping, operational analytics, and downloadable reporting, along with tree-by-tree nutrition and moisture mapping, further strengthening precision management capabilities across NLDB estates.
Permia’s technology combines remote sensing, agronomic analytics, and digital mapping to help plantation operators identify risks early, optimise interventions, and improve long-term yield outcomes. The NLDB deployment represents an important validation of Permia’s approach within large-scale, government-backed agricultural operations and demonstrates how digital tools can support measurable improvements in plantation performance.
Dr. Hasitha Bandara Wegiriya, Managing Director at Permia Sensing Lanka, said:
“We are delighted to partner with the National Livestock Development Board in supporting the digital transformation of plantation management in Sri Lanka. Deploying our platform across 4,750 hectares demonstrates the value of data-driven agriculture in improving productivity, operational efficiency, and long-term plantation health at scale. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with NLDB as the system evolves, strengthens on-farm practice, and delivers measurable impact across NLDB’s plantation operations and the wider agricultural sector in Sri Lanka”.
www.permiasensing.com The rollout, which began in October 2025, is now complete, with 18 NLDB estates actively using the platform to monitor plantation tree health. Permia and NLDB will continue working together to improve on farm practice and expand the application of advanced analytics to support sustainable agricultural development in Sri Lanka.
