Nalanda Colombo emerge champions

Nalanda College Colombo emerged champion of the All-Island Inter Schools Under 14 Baseball Championship 2024 conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Baseball Association (SLSBA) and hosted by Mahinda College Galle and Mahinda College Baseball Club in Galle.

20 elite baseball playing schools participated in this tournament held at Mahinda College ground, Richmond College ground and BTS ground Dadalla. Nalanda College Colombo beat Sampathnuwara National School Welioya in the final. Kingswood College Kandy won the third place.

Sampath Weragoda, President of Sri Lanka School Baseball Association and Principal of Senanayake College Colombo participated as the chief guest at the awards ceremony. Priyal De Silva, deputy Principal of Mahinda College Galle, Nuwan Jayasinghe, Treasurer of the Sri Lanka School Baseball Association and officials of the Mahinda Baseball Club participated.

Chenitha Nenath of Nalanda College Colombo was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Udara Ranmira (Sampath Nuwara National School Welioya) was awarded as the Best Fielder and Usiru Nilanga (Kingswood College Kandy) was picked as the Best Batter of the tournament.

Randika Dias (Nalanda College Colombo) was adjudged the Best Catcher and Bishak Kodagoda (Nalanda College Colombo) was awarded as the Best Pitcher of the tournament. (YK)
