Isipathana Past Players Football Association pays tribute to veteran coach Sarath Master

Isipathana College Past Players Football Association presented an award as a token of appreciation to Coach Sarath Master (1999/2003), an ex Isipathanian at the 2nd annual Isipathana/Thurstan College Football Big Match encounter, organised and conducted by the Isipathana College Past Players Football Association, under the guidance of the Principal Dharshana Udawattege, played at the Race Course ground, Colombo-07 recently.

Sarath Master with his own funds re-started Football at Isipathana College in the year 1999 by gettng the boys for practices and during his stint of coachiing from 1999 to 2003, he guided these boys to win many Championships, where Isipathana College earned a reputed name as Kings of Soccer during this period, which was dominated by Schools such as Zahira College Colombo and St.Benedict’s College Kotahena for many years.

The players during the year (1999/2003) formed a Past Players Football Association in 2022 under the Chairmanship of Viraj Sanjaya and wanted to conduct a Football Big Match between Thurstan College and Isipathana College. Both Schools agreeing, Thurstan College made arrangements to conduct the inaugural Football Big Match in 2023, where Isipathana College won. Isipathana College conducted the 2nd annual Football Big Match encounter, which was played recently and won by Isipathana College.

The Past Players Football Association as a respect arranged to present him an award at the awards ceremony as a token of appreciation rendered to the Sport Football, where he has played a major role to re-start Football at Isipathana College in the year 1999.
