Havelock City Mall (HCM) has launched its Sinhala and Tamil New Year seasonal programme, “Nostalgic Avurudu.” Running from 21st March to 12th April, the campaign blends traditional cultural celebrations with mall-wide retail activations through a curated calendar of community engagement.
At the heart of the programme is a recreated traditional Avurudu Village within the mall. Designed to help urban audiences relive the charm of village-style New Year traditions in an accessible city setting, the initiative offers Colombo-based families a rare opportunity to experience the full essence of the season despite their fast-paced lifestyles.
Avurudu Waasi will run from 21st March to 12th April, featuring exclusive seasonal discounts and offers across participating retail brands, while Avurudu Wasana will take place from 24th March to 12th April as a dedicated giveaway initiative offering shoppers the opportunity to win exciting gifts. The celebrations will continue with Avurudu Ulela and Games on 4th and 5th April, bringing the excitement of traditional Avurudu games into a shared public space for shoppers to gather and celebrate together.
The season will conclude with Avurudu Kadamandiya from 6th to 12th April, a traditional Avurudu market highlighting local craftsmanship and flavours, featuring artisan products, Avurudu sweets, and seasonal favourites, and providing local makers and small businesses a high-visibility platform during peak seasonal trade.
Through “Nostalgic Avurudu,” Havelock City Mall reinforces its positioning as a premier lifestyle destination that goes beyond retail, creating culturally relevant experiences and seasonal value for shoppers, retail partners, and local entrepreneurs during the New Year period.
