Minister of Plantations and Community Infrastructure Samantha Vidyaratne noted that the government will provide an additional fertilizer subsidy for small-scale tea plantation owners.
He stated that the Treasury has already allocated the required funds for the programme.
The Minister further noted that although there is currently no fertilizer shortage in Sri Lanka, global conditions could lead to future price increases due to rising shipping and insurance costs.
According to the Minister, small-scale tea growers will receive an additional subsidy of Rs. 5,000 to reduce the financial burden caused by rising fertilizer prices.
