Gold prices surge in Sri Lanka amid international market rise

The local gold market has experienced a significant increase in prices, driven by a spike in international gold rates. Traders at the Colombo Pettah market report that gold prices have risen by Rs. 7,000 today (6).

Currently, the price of a 22-carat gold sovereign in the Pettah market stands at Rs. 363,400. Meanwhile, the price of a 24-carat gold sovereign has increased from Rs. 388,000 yesterday to Rs. 395,000 today, traders confirmed

This upward trend reflects the global rise in gold prices and indicates a volatile market environment for precious metals in Sri Lanka.
