China’s XAG Agro keen in introducing AI based technology to Sri Lanka

Guangzhou: XAG Agro company China has introduced a series of novel smart AI based technologies to reap better economic benefits for its agro sector and they are ready to share this knowledge with Sri Lankan companies.

An official from XAG Agro, a world-leading smart agriculture technology company founded in 2007 told ‘Daily News Business’ during a FAM tour to China with Sri Lanka media that they are keen to share their technology with Sri Lanka companies.

XAG’s newly launched P150Pro/P150s/P60Pro agricultural drones can perform fully autonomous agricultural operations in various scenarios such as large fields and orchards.

Among them, the P150Pro agricultural drone can carry a maximum payload of 80 kilograms. Equipped with the new generation of XAG SuperX5Ultra flight control system, the P150Pro’s comprehensive computing power is 2.5 times higher than its predecessor.

“It can identify pest affected trees, areas where more fertilizer is needed and also pinpoint areas where replanting is needed.”

The 4D imaging radar can accurately detect fine obstacles within 100 meters, ensuring flexible obstacle avoidance in mountainous and hilly areas.

In addition to drones the company also introduced a tractor equipped with the APC3 agricultural autopilot console engaged in farming operations that run overland which is more cost effective and could carry bigger fertilizer/ chemical loads.

“This ground mounted technology is not used in Sri Lanka and we like to introduce it to the island and are looking at creating a marketing link with a Sri Lanka company,” she said.

“We have created 100% Smart agro farms with huge cultivation and this has brought huge cost saving companies all over the world and has helped to increase productivity by leaps and bounds.”

She said that labour is an issue for the agricultural sector and our air borne and land equipment can reduce labor dependency by a great deal. She also said that use of modern smart technology will also bring in more youth who are moving away from the agri sector back to the industry.

She said that when the technology was first introduced farmers were doubtful about how drones could do the job for them. However, once they tried it, they became enthusiastic and would never go back.”

This equipment is linked to mobile phones and hence data can also be stored for the future.
