Ceylon Chamber of Commerce to host mineral sands conf.

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will host a one-day technical conference on Sri Lanka’s mineral sands sector on 17 June at the Galle Face Hotel, Colombo, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Held in partnership with Mineral Technologies Australia, the conference will examine the sector’s development prospects, covering exploration, extraction, processing, markets, environmental management, project economics, ESG standards, rehabilitation, and global market dynamics.

Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Sunil Handunneththi will open the event. Geological Survey and Mines Bureau Senior Geologist C.N.B. Wijerathna and Lanka Mineral Sands Ltd Chairperson D.M. Kumara Rathna Bandara will also address the conference.

The programme will conclude with a panel discussion on steps required to build a more competitive mineral sands industry in Sri Lanka. Speakers will include Philip Murphy of PWM Consulting, Simon Burgmans of in2Dredging, Matthew Allen of Mineral Technologies Australia, Ted Avis of Coastal & Environmental Services South Africa, and Gavin Diener of TZ Minerals International Pty Ltd, with additional experts from India, Australia, and Sri Lanka.
