Alumex launches ESG roadmap ‘Elevate’ for stakeholders

Alumex PLC launched a comprehensive Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) roadmap titled ‘Elevate’ on December 3, at the Hayleys Head Office.

Adopting a formal ESG framework underscores Alumex’s vision of creating long-term value for stakeholders and contributing to a sustainable future.

Alumex PLC Managing Director Pramuk Dediwela said; “ESG factors are crucial in the construction industry, across the value chain, within our manufacturing footprint and in the eyes of our discerning clients around the world. We are proud to launch our ESG framework as a roadmap for responsible, ethical, and sustainable business operations at Alumex PLC.”

“Environmentally, sustainable practices reduce carbon emissions and manage resources effectively, enhancing compliance and operational efficiency. Socially, prioritising employee safety, fair labour practices and community engagement ensures that we are able to unlock innovation and strengthen resilience, which contribute towards business growth.

The new roadmap envisions enhancing customer experience, with an objective to raise overall customer satisfaction scores to 85%, ensuring that stakeholders remain at the heart of the company’s operational strategies.

In response to the growing need for a circular economy, Alumex is committed to reducing its carbon emissions which aligns with global sustainability standards and benefits Sri Lanka by contributing to a lower overall carbon rating. The roadmap sets clear targets for the future, including a 25% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) intensity, aiming to contribute to global efforts against climate change while optimizing energy use in operations.

Moreover, Alumex has aligned with global frameworks like the International Aluminium Institute and the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative. The company is focused on decarbonising its aluminium value chain by transitioning to cleaner energy sources and optimising production processes, while also promoting resource efficiency through effective recycling practices.
