ADB President highlights private sector’s role in Sri Lanka’s economic growth

During his official visit to Sri Lanka, Masato Kanda, President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), emphasized the vital importance of private sector investment in driving the country’s next phase of economic development.

Following a roundtable discussion with private sector leaders in Colombo, Kanda shared insights on the key challenges and emerging opportunities for investment in Sri Lanka.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he noted that Sri Lanka is shifting towards a growth model focused on productivity, exports, and increased private sector involvement.

The ADB is intensifying its efforts to support private sector development through regulatory reforms, project preparation, and risk-sharing mechanisms to attract more private capital.

Kanda concluded, “That is why our exchange was so critical. Together, we will turn investment into growth.”
