93rd Ritzbury Sir John Tarbat Senior Athletic Championship concludes

Showcases the emerging talent of over 5,000 athletes across the country

The 93rd Ritzbury Sir John Tarbat Senior Athletic Championship 2025 came to an exciting close on 11 September at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium, Diyagama, after four days of spirited competition featuring over 5,000 senior athletes from schools around the island.

Organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Athletic Association and powered by Ritzbury, Sri Lanka’s number one chocolate brand by CBL Foods International (Pvt) Ltd., the championship was once again a premier platform for nurturing young athletic talent and uplifting the standard of sports in the country.

From 8 to 11 September, competitors took part in a wide range of track and field events including sprints, relays, hurdles, long jump, and javelin throw, delivering outstanding performances and demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship.

Maristella College, Thimbirigaskatuwa emerged as the Overall Champions in the Boys category, and Lyceum International School, Wattala claimed the Overall Champion title in the Girls category. The RunnerUp positions went to St. Benedict's College, Colombo in the Boys category and A. Rathnayake Central College, Walala in the Girls category.

The coveted titles for Best Boys Athlete and Best Girls Athlete were awarded to Ayomal Akalanka of Ambagamuwa Central College and Jithma Wijethunga of Lyceum International School respectively, recognising their exceptional individual achievements.

With more than 600 schools in attendance, by supporting these platforms we are helping to shape future sporting champions and build wellrounded individuals who will contribute positively to the country.”
