University of Kelaniya under AIESEC Sri Lanka Global Expansia 1.0 concludes

The University of Kelaniya, under AIESEC Sri Lanka, a member of AIESEC the global youth-led organisation, Global Expansia 1.0 was held recently, at the Mahaweli Centre in Colombo.

The semi-virtual event hosted several industry leaders who through a series of knowledge-sharing sessions provided insights into the importance of Leadership and Personal Branding.

Global Expansia 1.0 is an innovative semi-virtual event that is focused on upskilling its members through personal branding whilst providing them with a platform to partake in the transformative volunteering, teaching and internship opportunities made available to them through AIESEC.

The event welcomed speakers such as CEO, Barista Coffee Lanka Pvt Ltd Dilupa Pathirana, CEO IKON Media Dulinda Perera and Public Speaking Coach and Comedian Anderson Haran.

Speaking with the Local Committee Vice President for Outgoing Global Volunteer, AIESEC in the University of Kelaniya Dewmini Fernando, stated: “As a young individual who is embarking on their career, personal branding has become more crucial than ever. Global Expansia 1.0 aims to equip participants with different aspects of Personal Branding and provide them with the knowledge and skills on how to craft their personal brand.”

The Local Committee Vice President for Outgoing Global Teacher, AIESEC at the University of Kelaniya Duvini De Alwis stated; “Leadership is the essence that transforms closeted individuals to enthusiastic visionary leaders. AIESEC is one such organisation that fosters this leadership among the youth through its unique leadership model. On behalf of the committee, we are pleased to see Global Expansia 1.0 coming together and we look forward to welcoming all our members.”

The one-day event welcomed over 100 participants in personal branding knowledge-sharing sessions, with industry leaders; as well as key exposure to the Global Volunteer, Talent and Teacher opportunities provided via AIESEC.

AIESEC provided global volunteering, internships and teaching opportunities to the youth. AIESEC paved the way for young individuals between 18-30 years of age to step out of their comfort zone, enabling them to learn through cross-cultural exchanges.
