Sri Lanka Women’s Football team heads for SAFF Championship

Sri Lanka Women’s Football Team, led by captain Tushani Madushika, is ready to compete in the seven-nation South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women’s Championship, beginning tomorrow, October 17, at Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal. The tournament will run until October 30.

The 23-member squad consists of players from Sri Lanka’s Tri-Forces, including the Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with athletes from Renown Sports Club and Colombo Football Club.

Sri Lanka will face three group-stage matches, starting with the Maldives on October 18 (Friday), followed by Bhutan on October 21 (Monday), and finally against host nation Nepal on October 24 (Thursday). Other teams in the tournament include India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh in this biennial competition.

The team’s coaching staff includes Head Coach Hassan Roomy, Technical Coach Ratnam Jusmin, Assistant Coach Deepani Samarasinghe, Goalkeeper Coach Sampath Bandara, and Team Manager Hithaishi Jayawardena.
