Sri Lanka rupee opens stronger at 300.40/60 to US dollar, bond yields up

Sri Lanka’s rupee opened slightly stronger at 300.40/60 to the US dollar on Wednesday, dealers said. Bond yields were significantly up, they said, and stocks opened up 0.39 percent.

The rupee closed at 300.60/75 against the greenback on Tuesday.

In the secondary market trading was subdued ahead of the bond auction scheduled for Thursday (12);

A bond maturing on 15.12.2026 was quoted at 11.40/60 percent, up from 11.30/50 percent.

A bond maturing on 01.07.2028 was quoted at 13.30.45 percent, up from 13.00/20 percent.

In equities, Colombo’s All Share Price Index opened 41.07 points higher at 10,612, while the S&P SL20 of more liquid stocks opened down at 0.84 percent or 24.56 points to 2,947.
