Sri Lanka suffered their third defeat in the ongoing CAVA Under-20 Men’s Volleyball Championship as they lost 3-1 to Turkmenistan on the fourth day of the tournament at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium yesterday.
Turkmenistan started strong, winning the first set 25-22 and the second set 25-18. Sri Lanka fought back in the third set, securing a 25-22 win, but could not maintain the momentum in the fourth set. Turkmenistan dominated the final set, winning 25-16 to seal the match victory. After Sri Lanka trailed 2-1 in sets, they struggled in the fourth set as Turkmenistan quickly pulled ahead, leading 20-14 before clinching the win by 25-16. This defeat leaves Sri Lanka with just one victory in four matches, making their path to a medal increasingly difficult in this six-nation competition.
In other matches, Uzbekistan easily defeated the Maldives 25-12, 25-10, 25-10. Nepal and Kyrgyzstan played later in the night.
