aking a significant step in its program to encourage SMEs in Sri Lanka, Sampath Bank successfully held its second Business Meet in the Colombo District recently at Hotel Royal Park, Kiribathgoda. The event was attended by a large number of SMEs, including senior management of Sampath Bank, and provided a good understanding of how to develop strong inter-relationships within the business community by discussing current business challenges.
Delivering the opening speech, Mr. Kasun Fernando, Head of SME Banking at Sampath Bank, emphasized the importance of managing their enterprises in accordance with the daily changing needs of these businesses and the contribution made by Sampath Bank to this end. Speaking afterwards, Sampath Bank Deputy General Manager - Consumer and SME Banking, Mr. Asanka Liyanage said that the role played by SMEs in driving the economy of the country is very important. He also pointed out that Sampath Bank will continue to invest in all other facilities including AI technology solutions and tools that have been launched by the bank to grow SMEs.

Meanwhile, the expert discussions led by Senior Economic Analyst Mr. Sanjaya Ariyawansa and Senior Economic Analyst Ms. Anitha Varusavitharana were a highlight of this business meeting. There was an opportunity to gain a clear understanding of the current economic trends, the challenges faced by business people, as well as the new opportunities available to SMEs.
