Roshan Dissanayake receives ‘Chairman’s Award’ at CTC awards ceremony

Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC (CTC) recently held its awards ceremony at Cinnamon Life, Colombo.

The ‘Chairman’s Award – 2024,’ was bestowed on Roshan Dissanayake, Leaf Area Manager, recognised by CTC for his outstanding contribution during 2024.

Roshan was the driving force behind the Dust Waste Solution, a commercial organic pesticide made from in-house materials. This groundbreaking and innovative idea ensured minimising waste from current practices.

“Receiving the Chairman’s Award is one of the greatest honours of my professional career and I am truly grateful to have had the opportunity to make a positive impact on the company,” said Roshan. “At CTC, we are empowered to excel and this award reflects the innovative and forward-thinking culture that has allowed me to lead a challenging project and achieve exceptional results. I consider it a privilege to contribute to the sustainability of our company through bold, creative solutions that drive progress.”

Shift Lead Jagath Karunathilaka was recognised as the first runner-up for his exemplary leadership and ingenuity in resolving technical issues which posed a threat to the efficiency of the manufacturing process of the company.

The group award was won by a twelve-member cross-functional team, comprising of Thilan Dassanayake, Imalka Bandara, Inam Ameen, Chamadith Wijesinghe, Chinthaka Wickramaarachchi, Ranil Pelpola, Shabith Muthalif, Lahiru Chamaka, Dilan Jayamanne, Ravindu Peiris, Nishanga Dissanayake and Asanga Egodawela. The team were recognized for their exceptional skills in addressing the market needs within a tight timeline, showcasing remarkable teamwork, unity, goal-orientation, collaboration and mutual support.
