NCE Export Awards 2024: Celebrating excellence and opportunities for Sri Lankan exporters

The 32nd edition of the NCE Export Awards will take place on December 6, at the Grand Ballroom of Shangri-La Colombo.

As one of the most eagerly anticipated events in Sri Lanka’s business calendar, the ceremony remains a beacon of excellence in the nation’s export sector. Organised by the National Chamber of Exporters (NCE) of Sri Lanka, the event has been held annually for over three decades, underscoring its importance and relevance in promoting and honouring the country’s top exporters.

Objectives of NCE Export Awards

The primary goal of the NCE Export Awards is to motivate and inspire Sri Lankan exporters by recognising and celebrating their outstanding achievements both locally and internationally. The NCE uses this platform to promote Sri Lanka’s top exporters and service providers, offering them a unique opportunity to enhance their reputation and credibility in global markets.

The Awards aim to push companies to excel in innovation, sustainability and good governance, setting new benchmarks for the overall growth of Sri Lanka’s export sector. Winners of these awards not only receive recognition but also gain a competitive advantage, which helps them attract new buyers, secure business opportunities, and increase their visibility on the global stage.

This year’s NCE Export Awards will recognise the best of the best in Sri Lanka’s export sector, with top-performing exporters receiving honours across three major categories: Bronze, Silver and Gold. In addition to these, a series of special awards will highlight remarkable contributions in specific areas, including:

Most Outstanding SME Exporter, Best Value-Added Exporter – Products Sector, Best Value-Added Exporter – Services Sector, Best Sri Lankan Brand Exporter, Most Innovative Exporter, Best Performer in Research and Development Activities, Highest Foreign Exchange Earner, Best Performing Exporter in Emerging Markets, Recognition of Differently-Abled Persons by Export-Oriented Enterprises, Best Woman Exporter

Most Outstanding Exporter – Overall and NCE Challenge Trophy for the Best Ethically Trading Exporter.

The Most Outstanding Exporter – Overall will be awarded to the top-performing enterprise in the Extra-Large Category, signifying the pinnacle of Sri Lankan export excellence.

Winning an NCE Export Award is much more than receiving a trophy—it is a powerful marketing tool that winners can leverage to attract international buyers and expand into new markets. Award recipients are given a ‘Special Logo’ that they can incorporate into their promotional materials, websites, and marketing campaigns for two years.

For exporters, recognition at the NCE Awards acts as a seal of approval, signaling to international partners that they operate at the highest levels of performance, innovation, and ethical business practices.

This rigorous evaluation process is conducted by a 25-member technical panel comprising experts from government bodies, private organizations and professional institutions. Their findings are reviewed by a 12-member panel of judges, made up of top specialists in their respective fields. The entire awards process is independently overseen by Ernst & Young, ensuring the highest levels of transparency and fairness.

In addition, all award winners are subject to clearance from various key stakeholders, including the IRD, EDB, Customs, the Environmental Authority, DOC, and the Labour Department, further solidifying the credibility of the NCE Export Awards.

The NCE Export Awards are committed to promoting good governance, social responsibility and environmental sustainability. For the third consecutive year, the event will feature the NCE Challenge Trophy for the Best Ethically Trading Exporter, which acknowledges companies that excel in business while maintaining the highest ethical standards.

The event will also feature a special social segment, during which Ethical Trading Certificates will be awarded to companies that have applied for and been selected based on their adherence to ethical trading standards. These certificates are an important acknowledgment of businesses that prioritize ethical practices, enhancing their reputation in global markets.

The NCE Export Awards are attended by Sri Lanka’s top business leaders, making it a must-attend event for exporters, service providers, and key stakeholders in the country’s export industry. This year’s ceremony will once again provide a platform for networking, collaboration, and celebration as the best performers in the country’s export sector are honored for their exceptional achievements.
