Another insightful session on ‘Empowering Growth: Harnessing Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) for Sustainable Success’ was held on October 10, 2024, at the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) auditorium.
This insightful session was organised in collaboration with the knowledge partners, KPMG Sri Lanka and the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE). It was attended by industry leaders, entrepreneurs, SME owners, professionals in compliance and risk management, CSR, sustainability and ESG managers, investors, financial institutions and supply chain managers, to understand the transformative impact of the ESG principles, global regulations and opportunities for businesses to thrive sustainably.
The NCCSL extended gratitude to the speakers from KPMG Sri Lanka: Partner Sustainability, ESG, Family Business, Board Governance and Global Assurance Pyumi Sumanasekara, KPMG Global Assurance Human Rights Director Shazaad Ninzer, KPMG Global Assurance Carbon Emission Senior Manager Callishia Fernando and CSE Senior Vice President Commercial Punyamali Saparamadu, for making the event a success.
The speakers from KPMG Sri Lanka presented an informative overview of key aspects such as understanding the intricacies of ESG reporting, new global regulations and their impact on businesses, risk and opportunities businesses may encounter: strategies to navigate risks and prepare for future challenges and identifying new opportunities for growth.
Saparamadu shared insights into the framework established for listing green bonds, which can be utilised by companies seeking green financing. The green bonds will help to ensure that corporations align with international standards, enhancing their appeal to potential customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
