The Sri Lanka’s Embassy in Jakarta hosted an event celebrating the culture and heritage of Sri Lanka, at the Embassy premises last week. Miwa Pattern, Milou Farmhouse, and Dilmah Tea were featured in the event.
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Admiral (Prof.) Jayanath Colombage expressed his delight in showcasing the unique connections between Sri Lanka and Indonesia. The event featured four presenters highlighting the deep ties between the two nations in various domains, including art, culinary fusion, premium Ceylon Tea, and Sri Lankan Cinnamon.
A key highlight of the event was the introduction of the MIWA pattern by fashion icon and designer, Mira Hoeng. Captivated by the aesthetic display at the Buddhist temples, festivals, and historical sites, she has transformed her photographs into artistic designs, unveiling her new pattern, ‘MIWA Manaram’. Alongside the Chairwoman of WANDANI (Wanita Theravada Indonesia – Women Theravada Indonesia), Ibu Wenny Lo and the team, Mira has been involved in charity projects to support rural schools in Sri Lanka’s Eastern Province.
The event included a mini fashion show and a talk show to highlight four key themes. Ambassador Colombage underscored the value of True Ceylon cinnamon, the only cinnamon variety in the world with the European Union Geographical Identification Certificate (GI-Certificate). Milou Farm, which was featured in the event, incorporates authentic Sri Lankan cinnamon into their culinary creations. Local entrepreneur Pishu Naraindas also showcased the finest Sri Lankan true cinnamon and related products offered by a new cottage industry.
The event also spotlighted the exquisite quality of premium Sri Lankan tea. Erly from PT David Roy Indonesia, the sole importer and distributor of Dilmah Tea, participated in the event that aimed at promoting best quality Ceylon Tea. Attendees were served Dilmah tea, inviting them to experience the exotic flavour and richness of Ceylon Tea.
The guests also indulged themselves in a unique culinary experience organised by Milou Farmhouse, a restaurant located in Grand Indonesia. Owner of Milou Farmhouse, Jimmy, known for his innovative approach to cuisine, presented a fusion of Sri Lankan and Indonesian dishes featuring authentic Sri Lankan cinnamon. Attendees savoured freshly made soft-serve ice-cream made with true cinnamon.
