In 50m Breaststroke: Young Benedictine swimmer sets Cholan World Record

Young swimmer Mast. R. Jaihari of St. Benedict’s College, Colombo 13, has set a Cholan Book of World Records mark in the Under-7 Boys’ 50m Breaststroke event.

Jaihari completed the event in a recorded time of one minute, two seconds and 37 microseconds at a special record-attempt programme held at the St. Benedict’s College Aquatic Sports Centre.

The attempt was adjudicated and witnessed by representatives of the Cholan Book of World Records, including General Secretary Captain (Retd.) Indranath Perera, Vice President Sri Nagawani Rajah and Major Dilan Jayasundara, Ex-Co Member of the Sri Lanka Branch.

The programme was attended by Director of St. Benedict’s College Rev Br Niran Perera FSC, Sub-Director of the Primary Section Rev Br Pravin Vaz FSC, Sub-Director of Sports Rev Br Dilshan Vimukthi FSC and Master-in-Charge of Swimming and Diving Beverly M Fernando.

Jaihari trains under the College Aquatic Sports Centre Coaching Team comprising Kasun de Silva, Harsha Kumara and Hiran Jayasena.

Teachers, family members, well-wishers, staff of the Aquatic Sports Centre and members of the College Aquatic Sports Squad were also present at the event.
