Sri Lanka’s top-ranked amateur golfer, Reshan Algama from Colombo International School, and rising junior talent, Adithya Weerasinghe of Ananda College, will represent Sri Lanka at the IGU All India Junior Boys and Golf Championship in Bengaluru, India, from December 2 to 6.
Reshan Algama, a seasoned player with international experience, recently competed in the Asia Pacific Amateur Championship in Japan. He has also represented Sri Lanka in junior tournaments across the Philippines, Malaysia, the USA, and Thailand this year.
Adithya Weerasinghe, a 16-year-old emerging golfer from Anuradhapura, moved to Colombo and enrolled at Ananda College just five months ago to further develop his golf career. He is the first golfer from Ananda College to represent Sri Lanka internationally. This marks his second international appearance in the IGU All India Junior Boys Golf Championship, having previously competed in the Selangor International Junior Golf Championship in Malaysia in 2023.
Weerasinghe’s remarkable achievements include a gross score of 68 at the Royal Colombo Golf Club and victories in the Silver Division at the Prima Golf and Srixton Junior Open in 2023. His rise from regional standout to international representative highlights the success of the HSBC Future Lions Programme, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Golf Union Junior Sub-Committee.
