The Ministry of Trade Commerce Food Security and Co operative Development has launched a data collection programme to assess fuel requirements in the wholesale distribution and transport sector.
The initiative aims to identify the fuel needs of service providers involved in food distribution and improve planning amid challenges caused by the global situation.
Officials said only transport providers not already registered under other government systems will be included, with participation based on voluntary submissions.
The collected data will be analysed and submitted as recommendations to the Ministry of Energy Sri Lanka and the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation to support future fuel management decisions.
