Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda emerged both under 19 boys and girls A division champions at the All Island Inter Schools Table Tennis Championships held at Municipal Indoor Stadium Kandy over the weekend.
Dharmasoka beat Ananda College Colombo 3-1 at the boys under 19 final and defeated their arch rivals Sri Devananda College 3-0 in the under 19 girls final.
Dharmasoka paddlers excelled at this tournament with winning boys B and C division titles while boys D division title was won by Methodist High School defeating St Anthony’s Katugastota.
Good Shepherd Convent Kandy won girls under 19 B division championship defeating Ladies College Colombo 3-1 while C division championship was won by Good Shepherd Convent Kandy defeating Girls High School Kandy.
Swarnamali Girls School Kandy defeated Rathnawali BMV Gampaha to win the girls D division title.
Meanwhile Ananda College Colombo won under 14 boys A division title while Dharmasoka won under 14 both B and C division titles. Mahamaya College Kandy and P.de S Kularatne College Ambalangoda won under 14 girls A and B division titles while Hillwood Kandy teams won under 14 girls C,D and E titles.
The tournament saw 50 girls schools and 48 boys teams took part in 8 divisions (under 14) and 5 divisions (under 19).
Athula Jayawardena, Deputy Director Physical Education and Sports-Education Ministry of Central Province was the chief guest.
