Unbeaten defending champion Colombo South U-15 emerged champions of the Prima – Sri Lanka Youth League U-15 Cricket tournament – 2024 conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket sponsored by Ceylon Agro Industries Ltd (Prima).
Colombo South U-15 beat Kandy U-15 in the final played at Thurstan grounds on yesterday (6).
Colombo South U-15 won the toss and elected to bat first. Colombo South U-15 scored 214 runs for 9 runs in 49 overs. Reshon Solomons scored 77 runs in 99 deliveries with 11 boundaries. Tharuka Saminjitha (32*), Adeesha Lakshan (24), Chanithu Kankanamge (21), Methuka Gunarathne (16) and Mahiru Kodithuwakku (16) helped to build their innings. Reshon Solomons and Mahiru Kodithuwakku made 51 runs stand for their 5th wicket. Sanithu Gunathilake and Chanul Kodithuwakku claimed 3 wickets each.
Kandy U-15 bowled out for 65 runs in 25.5 overs. Skipper Chanul Kodithuwakku scored 36 runs. Chanithu Kankanamge claimed 5 wickets for 22 runs. Methum Fernando claimed 3 wickets and Adeesha Lakshan claimed 2 wickets.
Reshon Solomons (Colombo South U-15) was awarded the Best Batter of the tournament and Yumal Egodage (Dambulla U-15) was adjudicated Best Bowler of the tournament. Chanithu Kankanamge (Colombo South U-15) was awarded Player of the Final and Dushen Udawela (Colombo South U-15) was awarded Player of the Tournament. (YK)
