Colombo, Jaffna reach final

Colombo and Jaffna qualified for the final of the National Super League (NSL) Limited Overs Cricket Tournament after their league matches yesterday.

Colombo, led by Charith Asalanka, played their last league game at the R. Premadasa Stadium, defeating Galle by 64 runs to top the points table with 14 points. Colombo played 8 matches, winning 7.

Jaffna and Galle were both competing to qualify for the final, but Galle was eliminated after losing to Colombo yesterday.

Jaffna played against Dambulla at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Hambantota, where Dambulla won by 16 runs (DLS method). Despite this loss, Jaffna secured second place with 9 points to enter the final, while Galle finished third with 8 points.

In the match, Jaffna scored 234 runs for 9 wickets in 46 overs, with Hasitha Boyagoda hitting 65 runs and Lahiru Madushanka scoring 51 runs. Dambulla scored 230 runs for 8 wickets in 42 overs before bad light stopped play. According to the DLS system, Dambulla’s revised target was 215 runs in 42 overs, allowing them to win by 16 runs. Wanindu Hasaranga played a quick innings, scoring 62 runs off 35 balls with 5 fours and 5 sixes. Sonal Dinusha also supported the team with an unbeaten 56 runs in 79 balls. The final will be held on October 6 in Dambulla.
