College of Chemical Sciences, Institute of Chemistry Ceylon holds convocation

The 20th convocation of College of Chemical Sciences (CCS), Institute of Chemistry Ceylon (IChemC) was held at the BMICH on November 4.

Prof. Jayantha Lal Ratnasekara, Governor Eastern Province, graced the occasion as the chief guest. This event marked the graduation of 120 graduates, 9 diplomats and 5 licentiate chemists of the Graduateship in Chemistry (GIC) programme, 36 graduates of B.Sc. (Hons.) in Chemical Science and 42 diplomats of the Diploma in Laboratory Technology (DLT).

Overall and subject prizes were also awarded to graduates who excelled in different theory and practical aspects of chemistry during their academic years in the institute. The President of IChemC, Prof. Janitha Liyanage, Council members of the IchemC, Emeritus and Senior professors, Senior lecturers, Administrative staff, Teaching-assistants, Parents and Well-wishers were among the attendees.

The event concluded with speeches delivered by G.S.P. de Silva, T.D. Fernando and K. Midusha who won the overall best performance prizes for GIC, B.Sc. (Hons.) in Chemical Science and DLT programmes, respectively.
