Chinese Dragon Café opens flagship outlet in Negombo

Chinese Dragon Café (CDC), one of Sri Lanka’s well-known names in Chinese cuisine, has expanded its presence with the opening of its newest outlet in Negombo, marking another important step in the brand’s growth across the country. Located at No. 48, Chilaw Road, Negombo, just 400 meters from the Maris Stella College towards Kochchikade, the new restaurant becomes Chinese Dragon Café’s 13th outlet in Sri Lanka and 14th outlet worldwide, bringing the brand to one of the country’s most popular coastal cities. Founded in 1942 by a Chinese couple in Bambalapitiya, Chinese Dragon Café has grown from a small neighbourhood restaurant into one of Sri Lanka’s most recognized Chinese restaurant brands. Over more than eight decades, the brand has expanded across key locations, with outlets in Bambalapitiya, Mount Lavinia, Nugegoda, Rajagiriya, Pelawatta, Wattala, Kandana, Kaduwela, Jaffna, Galle, Gothatuwa and Orion City. In 2021, Chinese Dragon Café also expanded outside Sri Lanka by opening its first international outlet in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, taking the brand and its Sri Lankan Chinese flavours to a wider audience.

The opening of the Negombo outlet is another important step in CDC’s growth. Negombo is well known for tourism, seafood and its diverse local community, making it a great location for Chinese Dragon Café to serve both local customers and visitors to the city. Chinese Dragon Café is widely known for customer favorites such as Hot Butter Cuttlefish and Seafood Fried Rice served in a Banana Leaf, along with a wide selection of rice, noodles, seafood and Chinese dishes. Over the years, the brand has built a loyal customer base by offering consistent quality, familiar flavours and a dining experience enjoyed by generations of Sri Lankans. The new Negombo outlet offers a spacious dining area suitable for families, groups, tourists and the local community. It also features a private dining room, giving customers a comfortable space for family gatherings, celebrations, business meetings and other special occasions. Customers can also enjoy a range of services including free delivery, indoor & outdoor catering, corporate meal solutions and online ordering via www.chinesedragoncafe.com.

Commenting on the opening, Mr. Lahiruwan Lakmal, Chief Operating Officer of Chinese Dragon Café said. “Negombo is a unique and growing city with a strong connection to seafood, tourism and a diverse customer community. We see great potential in this market and believe our Chinese cuisine will be well received by customers here. We are very happy to bring the Chinese Dragon Café experience to Negombo and look forward to becoming part of the local community.” The Negombo opening is part of the company’s plan to bring Chinese Dragon Café closer to customers in key cities across Sri Lanka while continuing to offer the food, flavours and service that customers have known and enjoyed over the years. As Chinese Dragon Café continues to grow, the Negombo outlet begins a new chapter in a journey that started in Bambalapitiya more than eight decades ago, bringing together the brand’s long history, familiar flavours and modern dining experience. The company is also preparing for further expansion, with new outlets planned for Kandy and Kurunegala, continuing its commitment to reaching more customers across Sri Lanka.
