BOC teams excel at their 85th Anniversary Cricket Sixes

Bank of Ceylon ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams excelled by reaching up to the quarter final stage at their 85th anniversary celebrations invitation Inter – Bank Cricket sixes tournament 2024. The BOC ‘A’ team lost to DFCC Bank by 3 runs and their ‘B’ team lost to Sampath Bank by 4 runs in keenly contested encounters, organised and conducted by the Sports Club on behalf of their 85th anniversary celebrations, played at the Thurstan College ground, Colombo – 07 recently.

At this invitation tournament, the organisers decided that 5 males and a female to play in a team to encourage females as well and twenty Seven Banking Institutions in Sri-Lanka accepting the invitation took part in this tournament.

The 27 teams that participated are MBSL, Indian Bank, SDB, SCB, NDB, CBSL, SMIB, BOC “A” and “B” teams, Amana Bank, PABC, Cargills Bank, DFCC, HNB, NTB, Seylan Bank, Habib Bank, Union Bank, Sampath Bank, Commercial Bank, MCB, People’s Bank, State Bank of India, RDB, HDFC, NSB, Citi Bank, and HSBC.

BOC ‘A’ in their second round match beat Pan Asia Bank by 2 wickets to enter the quarter final.

Pan Asia Bank – 94/3, BOC ‘A’ – 95/3.

BOC ‘B’ in their second round match beat Muslim Commercial Bank by 5 runs to enter the quarter final. BOC ‘B’ – 83/0, MCB – 78 all out.

Chairman of the Bank of Ceylon, Kavan Ratnayake was the chief guest at this 85th anniversary celebrations invitation Inter – Bank Cricket sixes tournament whilst General Manager, Rusell Fonseka was the guest of honor. Hasindu of BOC ‘A’ was adjudged the Best Fielder.
